I’ve been creating content online since 2009 from different channels such as BlogTV, YouTube, and Justin.TV. Twitch became a place in which I found a community and I wanted to create a space that’s best described as “sitting in the living room with your brother/sister watching them play games” and have a safe spot for people to hang and vibe.
Managing my own Twitch channel has come with its challenges, both in creating the content, managing the members, and promoting myself.
Overlays
Most of the overlays created on the Twitch Channel myself were pieced together myself using assets from other video games or through commissioned art, such as the Arcade background that I use in a lot of my content currently. Below are some of the overlays I’ve used through the years:
Community
My community is constantly growing and with that comes its own set of challenges. I have a Discord Server in which I can have day-to-day interactions with the community when I’m not live on Twitch. I also have some other attempts like a subreddit and a Facebook group, but Discord seems to be the most used.
Social Media
I have reused my clips from Twitch Streams on social media, like Twitter, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, etc. I also upload all of my Twitch Streams to a separate VOD channel on YouTube to archive my streams. I also in the past have created campaigns to promote different events on my Twitch Stream, examples below:
The Twitch stream is an ongoing project, and I’m always finding ways to optimize the stream and everything that goes with it when time and bandwidth allow!
